Full Description

Medir produces the finest quality bassoon reeds from A grade Spanish reed cane. Individually crafted with the latest precision equipment, Medir Bassoon reeds have outstanding consistency. Medir produces a large range of bassoon reeds and we are proud to stock three of their most popular reed profiles based on professional advice from leading Australian educators and performers.

  • Rieger 1A (White or Red Binding) is a popular all rounder that lends itself well to most bassoons from student to professional French and German bassoons.
  • Rieger 2 (Black Binding) a less common scrape among players, but popular among professionals. Specifically suited to older European bassoons, the Rieger 2 aids in a full rich sound right throughout the register.
  • Thunemann (Orange) reeds are a perfect match for any German Bassoon. The Thunemann reed shape is know for facilitating a darker sound and well suited to soloists and chamber bassoonists.

Medir also make a high quality Tenoroon reed, based on a Rieger 1A shape, it is softer and scraped to give a young player ease of playability. These reeds are  suitable for use on mini bassoons, tenoroons and full sized bassoons too.
