Moosmann student bassoon, handmade in Germany from Bosnian mountain maple. Two models available to suit students of all ages and sizes.
The Academy is the latest development in the Moosmann family, designed in consultation with Richard Craig Woodwind especially for the Australian market. With up to 24 keys, including high D and four rollers, it has the perfect configuration for school age students from beginner level up to AMEB grade 8.
There are 2 models with different suitability:
Moosmann Academy SHORT REACH: 19 keys, premium Bosinian maple, silver plated 'Excellent' Bocal, elongated keywork for short fingers and young hands, small hand crook, plateau keywork on LH for easy reach.
Moosmann Academy RING/PLATEAU: 24 keys, premium Bosinian maple, silver plated 'Excellent' Bocal, high D, 4 rollers, interchangeable plateau and ring key on LH
Made from quality Bosnian maple, the wing joint and both sides of the boot are lined to protect from moisture incursion, the same as professional bassoons. Keywork is of robust construction in nickel silver and heavily silver plated. This instrument is designed for the rigours of student and school life and will give decades of reliable service.
The sound is rich and dark as you would expect from the German tradition of woodwind instrument manufacture. The quality of the finish is superb, but not just cosmetically. Tone holes are sealed with a tough polyurethane varnish and the pads are carefully installed by hand by master craftsmen at the Moosmann factory in Waiblingen, near Stuttgart. This attention to detail makes the instrument very responsive and easy to play which is exactly what a young student needs.
Bernd Moosmann has supplied this bassoon to Richard Craig Woodwind at a remarkable price for such a high quality instrument.
