Full Description

A well loved sax with a long history of being played in dance bands all across Australia. One owner from new, manufactured in 1963 and original case (purchased in England). This alto has very little lacquer left and would be a good candidate for refinishing unlacquered or silver plating. This sax was repadded in the 90's and not played much since, however, it is time for a repad and mechanical overhaul to keep playing for another 50 years. If you are looking for the classic Selmer sound - look no further.

COMPLETE OVERHAUL
What's involved? Complete disassembly and removal of all perishable material, cork, felt, pads etc. Mechanical reconstruction, removing lost motion, refitting keywork , replacing springs, hinge rods and pivot screws. Dent work where necessary, re-securing loose posts. Refinishing hard wear areas, replace strap hook. Install new regulation material, new premium quality pads, resonators and much much more.....
Who does it?
Bret Gustafson oversees every saxophone overhaul in the shop. With over 30 years of professional experience, Bret has worked on hundreds of saxophones from all across the world. Bret has extensive experience in historical restoration, part replication and electroplating.
What are my options?
Every horn is different and every player is different so there are a number of option for every overhaul. pad type, resonator type, finger pearls, ergonomics, thumb hook placement etc.

 

All second hand instruments have a 7 day guarantee, if you find it is not suitable within 7 days, you can return it for a full refund of the purchase price once it has been returned to Consortium Music and checked (excludes shipping costs).

Do all instruments come with a warranty?

All new instruments come with a 24 month warranty as per Australian consumer guidelines. All second hand instruments come with a 6 month guarantee (unless stated as-is).

What is a Complete Overhaul?

Some instruments are very special due to their age / model / type and need a significant amount of work to get them back into top shape. A complete overhaul takes care of all functional maintenance and restoration to get it back into top playing condition. During an overhaul, there are a number of options to suit the player ie. resonators, pad tyle, finger tough material, spring material, silver / gold plating and overall finish just to name a few.

How much is shipping?

All orders over $100 are shipped free within Australia. Orders less than $100 will be shipped at cost (usually $10-$30) depending on the size of the Australia Post satchel.
