Full Description

The Wolf Tenoroon is a suitable children's bassoon for early instrumental lessons and also particularly good for wind band music, because when played in the treble clef, Bb voices can be played without being transposed. Modern bassoon fingerings apply in the bass clef (transposed). The Tenoroon is also known as a Quart Bassoon and was popularised in ensemble music through to the 19th Century. It gained popularity being used in European Millitary ensembles. There is solo and ensemble literature from the 18th century, as well as modern compositions (written especially for our instruments). It sounds a fourth higher than the normal bassoon.

As is usual with the bassoon, these handcrafted instruments are made from sycamore maple with a natural rubber lining. They are designed to work effectively with a regular sized soft bassoon reed, they are characterized by an even response with a full sound from the lowest to the highest notes. The tuning is stable in all registers with the usual bassoon fingering (models Fg 4 in F and Fg 5 in G). Due to many years of experience in the construction of small bassoons, Wolf have succeeded in developing a new generation of bassoons with perfect playing characteristics, which are constantly being improved in exchange with teachers and students. Tenoroons and Mini Bassoons have enabled band programs to include bassoon players in primary schools all across the Australia and the world.
This model of Tenoroon is also available in Yellow and Black tiger stripe upon request.
