Mini Bassoon in G, quality handcrafted insrument made in Germany from Sycamore Maple. Ideal for early introductions to double reeds.
The Mini Bassoon or Quint Bassoon or Fagottini (as it may be known) is perfect for children who wouldn't be able to cope with the weight and stretch of a full size bassoon. When played in the treble clef, C-parts are taken over without being transposed. It is therefore particularly suitable as a middle-voice instrument in any ensemble. Modern bassoon fingerings apply to the bass clef (transposed) and the tenor clef can be read as a bass clef without being transposed. The popularity of the Mini Bassoon in G and Tenoroon in F has prompted music publishers to include transposed music for band programs and small ensemble arrangements. The tradition of the fifth bassoon goes back to the tenor dulcian and sounds a fifth higher than the normal bassoon.
Due to our many years of experience with small bassoons, we were able to bring a new generation with perfect playing characteristics onto the market. Our bassoons are made of Sycamore Maple with natural rubber lining like a normal bassoon. With a light approach with a normal bassoon reed, they are characterized by an even response with a full sound from the lowest to the highest notes. The tuning is stable in all registers with the usual bassoon fingering (models Fg 4 and Fg 5). All keywork and metal banding is silver plated to reduce affects of nickel allergies.
The Wolf Mini Bassoon can be used in a variety of ways:
as an alto and tenor instrument in an ensemble
as a timbre in wind music
as a bass in the recorder group
as a solo instrument for historical and modern literature
as a musical effect - optical and acoustic
and of course as a children's instrument for early instrumental lessons (children as early as 4 years old have successfully )
