Mercer & Barker Ltd was created as a company and launched in the Autumn of 2019 and is the brainchild of Carl Mercer and George Barker, a collaboration of two Tuba players and friends striving to design, develop and create brass instrument mouthpieces of the highest quality using the best of British precision engineering.

These mouthpieces are not only aesthetically pleasing but have been developed and designed to improve core sound, adaptability and secure intonation across all registers. Mouthpieces have been extensively designed and tested by leading players to ensure suitability, consistency and quality.

Mercer & Barker Tenor Trombone mouthpieces come in a variety of sizes:

MB2G “Fumeaux” developed with Trombone superstar Lionel Fumeaux. This is on the larger size for a tenor mouthpiece and well suited as a small bass trombone mouthpiece. Big sound and projection.
Cup: 27.00mm, Throat: 6.80mm, Rim: 7.20mm

MB4.5G Viper - when you need that little bit more room than the 5G it gives you that little bit extra, Super comfy Rim with additional weight to enhance the sound.
Cup: 25.7mm Rim: 6.75mm Throat: 7.40mm

MB4.75G - Slightly more open than the 5G
Cup: 25.60mm Throat: 7.35mm Rim: 6.75mm

MB4GJP Dragon - has been developed with renowned professional trombone player Jonathan Pippen, for those that need a slightly larger Tenor Trombone Mouthpiece this is ideal. Extremely comfortable rim that reduces lip fatigue with slightly more body mass to enhance the sound.
Cup: 26.00mm, Rim: 6.89mm, Throat: 7.40mm

MB5G Raptor - is the go to tenor trombone mouthpiece, dimensionally based on the Bach 5G this Tenor Trombone mouthpiece gives you the comfort of the MB unique rim that reduces lip fatigue but will shape to offer clear articulation and easily centre notes giving you that Zip when needed. The slightly heavier weight enhances the sound making it a great all-round favourite for the trombone specialist.

With the unique MB Rim which reduces lip fatigue you can increase playing time and stamina

Do all instruments come with a warranty?

All new instruments come with a minimum 24 month warranty on repairs and we will take care of all servicing and cleaning within the first 12 months upon request. All second hand instruments come with a 6 month guarantee from the date of purchase.

Can you service my instruments?

Consortium Music is owned and operated by a team of specialist Brass and Woodwind repair technicians, we are a full service workshop from general maintenance to major repairs and custom builds. Whether you are local or interstate, we can advise you on the best way to get your instrument here for specialist care.

How much is shipping?

All orders over $100 are shipped free within Australia. Orders less than $100 will be shipped at cost (usually $10-$30) depending on the size of the Australia Post satchel.
